Driving up O,Connell street one quiet night
around midnight , a hand pops out from behind a Bus shelter.
Panda pulls over ,2 women aged about 60 ish are there.
They take ages to get in ,One gets in the front the other
in the back.
Woman in front says,”Sorry I’m taking so long , me legs are banjaxed.”
Panda: “ No problemo.”
Woman (holding a piece of paper ) :”Can you take us to this place, it’s
our last hope for somewhere to stay.”
Woman in back:”We’ve been walking around all day trying to
get somewhere to stay ,we got off the ferry earlier from England”
They arrive at the location ,which wasn’t too far away.
Woman in front: “ Mary, will you go in and see if they have any rooms ?”
Woman in back: “ Okay ,Mary.”
Mary2 gets out.
Panda:”2 Marys.”
Mary 1: “Yes and we are sisters.”
Panda : “Huh?”
Mary 1 : And our mother’s name was Mary as well.”
Panda : “All the Marys.”
Mary1: “ We are over here to go to our Aunt Mary’s funeral down
the country.”
Panda: “Are all your family called Mary?”
Mary 1 laughing: “Pretty much.”
Mary 2 climbs back in the car.
Mary 1: “Well,Mary ,how are we fixed?”
Mary2 : “It’s booked out , full up .”
Mary1: “What are we going to do?,
We haven’t been home in years,
We walked all over the city today looking
for somewhere to stay,
We missed our Train earlier ”.
Panda : Why did ye not pre-book somewhere to stay?”
Mary 1: “We know nothing about computers,
Last time we were here ,you could just arrive on the day and get
Somewhere to stay .”
Mary 2: “Do you have any spare rooms at home ?”
Panda >Sorry ,luv, I haven't .
Mary1> Do you know anywhere we could shelter till the morning ?
Panda > You could sit in a 24 hour shop till morning ,
So long as you buy some coffee or tea !
Mary 1>Great , take us there ,please !
Panda> I can bring ye to one in city centre .
Mary 1> Does it be very busy ?
Panda> Yes , I can bring ye to one outside city centre ,
I know the lads that work there !
Mary 1> Let’s go !!
They pull outside shop and Panda tells them ,
To buy something every hour or so and
Don’t mention they need somewhere to stay.
They pay Panda and go into Shop.
Panda decides to follow them in to buy some Tea for himself.
The 2 Marys are at the top of the queue.
They order 2 teas and 2 cakes ,
Then Mary 2 > Can we sleep on your seats for a few hours?
Guy in Shop> HUH, this is not a B&B !!!!
Panda turns on his heels and gets out of there,
Breaking his heart laughing.
Panda to himself> I told them not to mention about staying !!!
Panda goes into the shop a week later and the guy
Says to Panda>It was you who left them women here !
Panda laughs > Guilty!!!!
Guy> we could not get rid of them for awhile as
We are not allowed to let anyone to sit in after 12 anymore!!
Panda> What happened to them?
Guy> They stayed for a little while , then they got Taxi to City Centre
To another shop !!
Panda laughing> They probably done a tour of all the 24 hour shops!
Guy> Yes, Panda , they were very funny!!!!
